2nd day of Nichols jury deliberation
By Odette Yousef
Atlanta, GA – Today the judge in the Brian Nichols trial questioned one of the alternate jurors to find out whether he had violated his oath.
The jury is in its second day of deliberating whether Nichols should die for killing 4 people in an attempted 2005 courthouse escape.
Prosecutor Kellie Hill brought the matter to Judge James Bodiford's attention.
She explained that an anonymous caller spoke with Fulton County District Attorney Paul Howard Tuesday night, about an encounter that the caller had with Juror number 16 at a grocery store last Friday.
According to Hill, the caller said that the juror tried to prove that he was on the Nichols trial by showing a piece of evidence from the case:
HILL: And there was a discussion, about "I'm on the jury, this is a piece of information that we were given."
Judge Bodiford questioned the juror about the matter, and found the allegation to be unsubstantiated the juror denied the story entirely.
Wednesday was the second day of jury deliberation.
