Aaron Turpeau discusses leaked memo about race and ATL Mayor campaign

Atlanta, GA – Aaron Turpeau has been one of many operatives behind the scenes of Atlanta politics for many years working for Mayors like Maynard Jackson. But this week, Turpeau found himself at the center of controversy in the 2009 campaign for Mayor. Turpeau is part of the Atlanta Black Leadership Forum. A document analyzing which candidate the group should support was leaked to the media thus stirring up old and tense feelings about race in Atlanta.

WABE's Charles Edwards talked to Turpeau as he was driving to South Carolina. In the conversation, Turpeau said the forum interviewed the 5 major candidates running for mayor but the group could not decide which one to pick. That's when Turpeau says the forum turned to two Clark Atlanta University political science professors.
