Atlanta BeltLine looks to volunteers for help
By Jim Burress
Atlanta, GA – When the Beltline Partnership announced the "Adopt the Atlanta BeltLine" program two months ago, organizers figured it would be popular. They had no idea says BeltLine Partnership program director Rob Brawner.
"We've had 18 groups sign on the dotted line, and probably 50 others who have expressed interested."
Initially, they banked on it taking about a year to recruit enough groups to adopt the entire BeltLine.
Bronner says they're nearly halfway there already, because people are starting to see the BeltLine as their neighborhood's own front door.
"This is how people enter their business, enter their neighborhood, and they want it to look good."
The Adopt-program asks volunteers to commit to at least a year of picking up litter, weeding, and landscape maintenance.
