Atlanta, GA – On the night of September 3rd, 19-year old Jasmine Lynn was gunned down while walking with friends near James P. Brawley Street.
Lynn, a Spelman student was caught in the middle of an altercation between two groups, when someone opened fire:

((there was six shots fired on the scene and we know one of the shots stuck Ms. Lynn in the chest and the ballistic evidence on scene was consistent with having been fired from one weapon ))

That's Lt. Keith Meadows with the Atlanta Police Department.
He says 21-year old DeVonni Manuel Benton has been arrested and charged with firing those shots.
Benton reportedly is student at ITT Technical Institute
His arrest brings some comfort says Spelman's Vice Presdent of Student affairs Dr. Sherry Turner:

(( I imagine that members of the Spelman community will be very relieved to hear the news that a suspect has been caught and we look forward to the unfolding investigation))

Atlanta police officials say they questioned more than 60-people leading to Benton's arrest.
