Beltline CEO is leaving
By Charles Edwards
Atlanta, GA – The Atlanta Beltline project yesterday announced its President will step down in September.
The Beltline is a 25-year, billion dollar effort to re-fit old train tracks and connect Atlanta communities, parks and green space.
The organization released a statement saying Terry Montague's last day as President and CEO will be September First. After that, she will stay on as a consultant helping transition to new leadership.
In the statement, Montague did not give a reason for leaving. She did say the Beltline has achieved "early milestones" and gained momentum in the last three years.
Since July 2006, officials have broken ground for parks and trails as well as secured funding for the project.
However, the Beltline has seen it share of hurdles. Issues over bonds, tax allocation districts and real estate have often prompted questions about the Beltline's future.
Even so, Beltline officials say there's still strong public support for the project.
Before joining the Beltline, Montague was a community development leader in Maryland.
