Church groups and nonprofits join forces to help Haiti

Atlanta, GA – The outpouring of support for the Haitian people continues throughout Atlanta.

Churches and nonprofits are partnering to organize drives and donate supplies.

Outside the Pilgram Cathedral in Decatur, Tony Tucker is putting the final touches on two U-HAUL trucks packed with donations.

TUCKER: ...Gauze and sterile gauze. We've got alcohol pads, bandages. There's also underwear and socks.

Tucker works for Community Life Concepts, a local nonprofit. It organized a partnership between Pilgram and Victory World Church in Norcross.

TUCKER: It's in the grocery stores. It's what you hear when you're talking in the break room at work. Everybody is really concerned about the needs of the people whose lives have been destroyed.

Pilgram's two U-HAUL trucks will be combined with the donations from Victory World and jointly flown to Port Au Prince later this week.

International officials say there's still a great need for medical supplies, clean water, and tents for the displaced.
