Clayton Residents Mobilize 'Mega Town Hall'

Atlanta, GA – Clayton County community organizers expect four to five thousand concerned residents to turn out for a town hall meeting tomorrow. It will feel more like a crash course on civic participation, aimed at helping the County save its school accreditation.

Meeting organizers hope to identify leaders for each of the county's school districts:

BIVINS: If that district is trying to unite for the purpose of electing a new school board member, then they can walk away and they can stay in their neighborhood, and they can create these different forums or these different town halls, so that they can be effective in the voting process

Charlton Bivins is Chairman of Concerned Citizens of Clayton County, which organized the meeting.

The meeting will feature presentations that answer questions from what is accreditation,' to what to do if the system loses accreditation. That will happen if the district fails to fulfill several mandates by September first.

The mega town hall will be at 4pm at Mt. Zion High School in Jonesboro.
