Clayton Residents Organize for New Board Members

Atlanta, GA – Some Clayton County residents are already working on replacing two school board members. That's even before those seats have been formally vacated.

The Clayton County Concerned Citizens Coalition, a grassroots group that has called for the resignation of all nine members, is drawing up a list of possible candidates. Bob Hartley, head of that group, says they're looking for people with business backgrounds:

HARTLEY: We need people that know about customer service, know about how to balance the books, know how to look at a spreadsheet, know how to receive input, and we think that a business background sort of encompasses that.

Hartley says he's gotten calls already from people who are interested in running. But it's still too soon to float names, because the seats of Rod Johnson and Norreese Haynes aren't technically open yet.

Johnson announced his resignation on Monday, and Haynes was voted out by his peers, though he plans to contest the action.
