Atlanta, GA – If we were to turn Atlanta's clock back 79 years to June 17th, 1929, we'd find a fledgling Delta Airlines just beginning passenger service out of Atlanta. What is now the United State's 3rd largest carrier had a humble origin, however. It began in Macon as a crop-dusting service designed to combat the boll weevil infestation of Southern cotton fields. Georgia State University historian Cliff Kuhn picks up the story from there
