This Date in Atlanta History: Jimmy Carter Presidential Library Dedicated
Atlanta, GA – Today is October 1st, and if we were to turn Atlanta's clock back 23 years, to this date in 1986, we'd find a collection of dignitaries assembled for the dedication of the Jimmy Carter Presidential Library at a new park just east of downtown. That the Carter Presidential Center came to be located in what was formally called "the Great Park" was not without controversy, as Georgia State University historian Cliff Kuhn explains.
