This Day in Atlanta History: Jackie Robinson at Ponce de Leon Park

Atlanta, GA – If we were to turn back Atlanta's clock to April 8, 1949, we'd find the city abuzz about baseball. The Brooklyn Dodgers were in town for a three-game exhibition series against the minor league Atlanta Crackers. Of special interest was the fact that major league baseball's first black player, Jackie Robinson, would be taking the field.
