Delta to Add Non-stop Atlanta--Port au Prince, Haiti Service in April

Atlanta, GA – It's been two years since a massive earthquake devastated Haiti.

Rebuilding efforts continue, and partly as a result, Atlanta-based Delta Air Lines is expanding its service to the Caribbean country, the airline says.

Starting April 7th, Delta will offer a weekly, non-stop flight between Atlanta and Port Au Prince.

Delta spokesman Trebor Banstetter says continued demand to the Caribbean city warrants the expansion.

"You've got a lot of people in the US who are involved in the rebuilding effort there. So, we have lots of people traveling to Haiti on humanitarian missions and on rebuilding missions."

Banstetter also says Atlanta's sizeable Haitian community will support the route.

It's the first Atlanta-to-Haiti segment on Delta in at least twenty years, although
the airline operates daily service from New York City.

Initially, Delta will fly the route on Saturdays, but could expand it based on demand.
