Delta to SEC: domestic capacity down
By Charles Edwards
Atlanta, GA – Passengers who fly Delta Airlines to destinations in the US might see fewer flights or smaller planes.
On Friday, the Atlanta-based air carrier told the Securities and Exchange Commission domestic capacity will be down by 12 percent in the fourth quarter.
Susan Elliott is a Delta spokesperson.
ELLIOTT: "Delta's continuing to monitor demand closely and we are committed to making capacity changes as needed to protect our business in the current economic climate."
The news is not a surprise. Delta has focused on more profitable international routes since getting out of bankruptcy last year.
The airline says its international capacity has grown by 9 percent.
