Falcons Head Coach Resigns

ATLANTA – One day after former Atlanta quarterback Michael Vick was sentenced on federal dog-fighting charges the Falcon's head coach Bobby Petrino has announced he's leaving the team.
Petrino announced his departure yesterday afternoon.
After just 13 games with the Falcons he's been hired as the new coach for Arkansas.
Petrino will replace Houston Nutt, who stepped down at Arkansas two weeks ago and became the head coach at Mississippi.
Last January, Petrino left as head coach at Louisville to take over in Atlanta, agreeing to a five-year, 24 million-dollar contract.
Now Petrino will leave that deal in favor of a five year contract at nearly 3 million dollars per year with the Razorbacks.
Petrino's departure marks yet another blow to what has already been a dismal year for the Falcons.
Monday Michael Vick was sentenced to 23 months in prison without playing a game under Petrino and that same night the Falcons lost to New Orleans leaving the team with a 3-10 record as Petrino returns to the college ranks.
