Flight Attendant Union Sues Delta

Atlanta, GA – The Association of Flight Attendants claims Delta is violating contractual conditions over scheduling and other issues.

As an example, the AFA says its members are supposed to get more than two days off after certain international flights. The lawsuit claims Delta is only giving them 11 hours. Other allegations center on pay and working conditions.

In a statement, Delta spokeswoman Gina Laughlin said the suit is without merit, and that it's only meant to divide and distract flight attendants as they prepare to vote on union representation.

Flight attendants who came to Delta as part of its merger with Northwest are unionized. Delta flight attendants are not. An upcoming vote should resolve which side the merged group will choose.

Complete statement from Delta Airlines:

"The AFA's claims are inaccurate and should put to rest the idea that flight attendants can be both pro-Delta and pro-AFA. We believe this lawsuit has no merit and can only presume it is meant to divide flight attendants and distract them from the upcoming representation election."
