Fulton selects company for 911 center audit
By Charles Edwards
Atlanta, GA – An Oregon-based company will audit Fulton County's 911 call center in the wake of the mishandling of an emergency call leading to the death of a Johns Creek woman.
Emergency Services Consulting will audit the center. Fulton County Manager Zachary Williams announced the decision yesterday.
Williams says he has a clear goal in mind for the review.
WILLIAMS: The audit itself will help us assess if there are deficiencies and where there are deficiencies in the system so that we can develop corrective actions plans and get them fixed.
At the same time, Williams blames the delayed emergency response to Darlene Dukes' 911 call on former Fulton County operator Gina Conteh.
After answering Dukes' 911 call, Conteh sent an ambulance to a location almost 30 miles away from where Dukes was. The county has since fired Conteh. However, an appeal hearing on that decision has been scheduled for next Thursday.
