Georgia Tech Hosts Green Expo

Atlanta – Friday is National Alternative Fuel Vehicle Day. In honor of that, Georgia Tech is holding an expo featuring vehicles that run on alternative fuels, such as natural gas and electricity. WABE's Martha Dalton has the story.

One of the vehicles on display will be the eco car, which was designed by a group of Georgia Tech students. The group was given a Chevrolet View and told to make it more energy-efficient. Team Outreach Coordinator Kary Winkler says they gave it a makeover:
"85 percent ethanol architecture, and the electric part of it is run off a lithium ion battery. We increased the highway mileage by 30 miles per gallon. 55 percent reduction in greenhouse gas emissions."
One of the expo's sponsors is Centergy Group. President Dave Mook says green infrastructure will be featured as well, because if you're going to buy an electric car, you'll need someplace to charge it.
"They'll be some charging technologies that you can have in your home. There's also some information on how you'll be able to use your iPhone and find the next charging station available."
The expo is from 9:00 to 4:00 at the Kessler Campanile, and is free to the public.
