Glenn Thomas drops out of ATL Mayor's race
By Charles Edwards
Atlanta, GA – On the last day of qualifying for Atlanta's Mayoral race, one of the frontrunners dropped out.
Fundraising woes will keep Glenn Thomas off the ballot in November.
WABE's Charles Edwards reports
9 months ago, Thomas resigned as Atlanta's budget manager for public safety to run for mayor. Since then, Thomas, a political newcomer, pulled in 24 thousand dollars. But Thomas says 18 thousand of it came from him and his family.
THOMAS: "We will live to fight another day. But right now the best decision for my family was to withdraw because the financial responsibility began to be too heavy."
Despite his fundraising disadvantage, Thomas' campaign gained some attention.
Of the 12 candidates who have actively campaigned, many groups considered Thomas in the top 5.
Moving forward, Thomas says he'll closely watch the Mayor's race and plans to endorse a candidate later.
