Grady Expected to Name New Board, Sign Lease

Atlanta, GA – Tomorrow, Grady Health Systems' trustees are expected to sign off on a lease agreement and name the members of a new board that will assume management of the facility.

The meeting, originally scheduled for Monday, comes after both Fulton and DeKalb Counties approved the transfer of management. The change is expected to bring in hundreds of millions of dollars in private donations, and perhaps tens of millions from the state.

Pete Correll, retired head of Georgia Pacific, is expected to serve on the non-profit board. When asked how soon the new board may assume its full management duties, he says:

CORRELL: I think it's sooner rather than later, and I think it's a matter of weeks, or a month, or something like that. It's not very long.

Already, several names of potential members have been leaked, but Grady Chairperson and CEO Pamela Stephenson has not revealed the 5 members that Grady's trustees have nominated. The names so far include leaders from the private and public sectors.
