Gubernatorial Hopefuls File Disclosure Forms
By Odette Yousef
Atlanta, GA – Today's the last day of the grace period for gubernatorial candidates to file their campaign disclosure forms for the last six months. Not everyone has filed yet in advance of the midnight deadline, but WABE's Odette Yousef reports on those who have.
Of those who have filed so far, Democrat and former Governor Roy Barnes raised the most: $2.7 million during these last six months alone. No other top Democrat has yet filed for this period on that side.
But last period, Attorney General Thurbert Baker led on that side, having raised more than $700 thousand.
On the Republican side, Congressman Nathan Deal led in this last disclosure period, with 600 thousand dollars raised over 6 months. Deal also finished the previous reporting period with the most cash on-hand: $1.1 million by the end of June.
Another Republican frontrunner, Insurance Commissioner John Oxendine hasn't yet filed. Last period, he raised the most money of the Republican contenders, about $1.5 million.
