Gwinnett Lowers Millage Rate
By Charles Edwards
Atlanta, GA – Taxes are either staying the same or going up for most property owners in Metro Atlanta. In Gwinnett County, property taxes are set to drop slightly.
This week, the Gwinnett County Commission lowered one of the county's millage rates. The vote came after the county earlier this year paid off bonds for roads and libraries.
With the bond taken care of, Gwinnett property owners will get a little relief on their tax bills. Aaron Bovos is the county's chief financial officer.
"It equates to a reduction of about $15.64 for the average valued home in Gwinnett County," said Bovos.
The average home in Gwinnett is worth $174,000. The tax drop also means the county will take in about $6 million less in revenue.
