Ice Could Remain Through Friday
By Michellel Wirth
Atlanta, GA – It could be awhile before the area thaws out from the massive winter storm that led to impassable roads, closures and flight cancellations.
National Weather Service Meteorologist Matt Sena says even if temperatures climb above freezing during the next few days, overnight lows in the teens and 20s could keep snow and ice on the ground.
"Right now, best case is continued really bad through Thursday morning."
But Sena says it's more likely that the snow and ice will stick around through the end of the week.
"If we get plenty of sun by Friday, with the temperatures coming up, we can hopefully get most of the roads dried. Between now and then, it's going to be a slow process in getting things cleaned up."
Sena says daytime temperatures are expected to reach the 40s and possibly the 50s by the weekend.
