International Soccer Game Comes To Atlanta

Atlanta, GA – In an attempt to land future World Cup Soccer games in Atlanta, organizers Wednesday announced an international event is coming back to the city this summer. Club America will play Manchester City in the Georgia Dome in July for the Atlanta International Soccer Challenge. Michael Reene is CEO of the International Events Groups Operations, one of the game's organizers.
"The idea is that the game is good for Atlanta," said Reene. "The game is good for futbol. The game is good for the World Cup bid that Atlanta is doing. There's a lot of constituents here. It's not just a soccer match. There's a lot of work to be done."
Rosters for both teams in the challenge aren't set. But Reene hopes about 10 potential World Cup players will play in the challenge in Atlanta. The city of at least 12 others in America helping the U.S. land the World Cup bid for either the 2018 or 2022 World Cup.
