Israeli Ambassador Visits Atlanta

Atlanta – The Israeli ambassador to the U.S. came to Atlanta today to honor slain civil rights leader Martin Luther King, Jr. In addition to the tribute, he also expressed concerns over the release of state department documents by watchdog organization "WikiLeaks." WABE's Martha Dalton reports.

Israeli Ambassador Michael Oren came to the King Center to lay a wreath at the tomb of Dr. King.
After the ceremony, by the fountains surrounding the burial site, Oren expressed concern over Wikileak's release of classified documents. Some of those documents detailed fears about Iran's growing nuclear program, which Oren said is a global concern:
"Iran continues to industriously and assiduously enrich uranium for the purpose of creating nuclear weapons. And that threatens not only Israel and not only the Middle East, but the world, including the United States."
Oren said much of what was "leaked" confirmed what world leaders suspected about Iran's uranium program.
He said the incident won't affect open communication between the U.S. and Israel.
