When it comes to the city of Atlanta, just about all of it has been in Democrat John Lewis' district for years. But under the proposed map, Atlanta's Buckhead neighborhood moves from one Congressional District to three.

Republicans Tom Price and Phil Gingrey would represent the other two. And that's what State House redistricting chair Roger Lane says Buckhead wants.

"We heard from a lot of folks up there that wanted to be in Phil Gingrey's district. So, that was listening to them. Also, needing to add population to the district."

The map also stretches Democrat Hank Johnson's mostly DeKalb County district further east to include all of Rockdale County and part of Newton County.

As expected, the map creates a new Congressional seat for Northeast Georgia.
The map needs legislative and federal approval.
