New Draft State Transportation Plan Calls For Big Projects, Big Expenditures

Atlanta, GA – If you want to unclog traffic in metro Atlanta, while building roads for rural Georgia, and keeping freight moving all over the state, get ready to pay a lot more for it. That's the conclusion of a new draft transportation plan for the next few decades prepared for the Legislature by the State Department of Transportation. Todd Long is director of planning for the D-O-T. He told WABE's Denis O'Hayer the state risks losing jobs and money to other states, if it doesn't invest in major transportation improvements. The big questions are: where the money will come from, and what forms of transportation should get it.
