Norwood stumps for runoff votes
By Charles Edwards
Atlanta, GA – During Monday afternoon rush hour traffic, Atlanta Mayoral frontrunner Mary Norwood waived to drivers at a busy intersection.
It's the same place her runoff opponent, Kasim Reed, greeted drivers last week.
WABE's Charles Edwards reports
On each corner of the intersection of Freedom Parkway and Boulevard, Norwood supporters held campaign signs, cheering their candidates while trying to get drivers to do the same.
Meanwhile, Norwood took turns at each corner waving to drivers. Norwood said voters in this part of Atlanta, district, played a key role in her first place finish in last week's election.
NORWOOD: "We had great support in district 6 in the general election, I think we had twice as much support as some of my opponents."
However, Kasim Reed is fighting for district 6 votes too. Last week, he waived to drivers at the same intersection. And yesterday, he accepted state political veteran Jim Martin's endorsement less than 2 miles away.
District 6 is highly sought after because voter turnout there is typically high. Plus, both Mayoral candidates hope to benefit from a city council runoff in the district as well.
