Reed sworn in as Atlanta Mayor

Atlanta, GA – After being sworn in as the 59th Mayor of Atlanta, Kasim Reed announced plans to follow through on one of his major campaign promises.

WABE's Charles Edwards reports

After Atlanta's municipal judges and city councilors took their oaths of office, Reed took his own from State Supreme Court Chief Justice Carol Hunstein.

REED repeats after HUNSTEIN: "To hold said office according to the constitution the laws of Georgia and ordinances of the city of Atlanta so help me God."

During his speech, Reed pledged to use donations from private companies like CNN to help re-open Atlanta's recreation centers.

REED: "One dollar out of every CNN tour will be dedicated to open recreation centers. Last year, a quarter of a million people visited CNN. Those dollars are going to open the recreation centers for the city of Atlanta. We will have action not words."

Reed also promised to tackle Atlanta's public safety and pension problems.
