Vick debate takes place outside Falcons complex
By Charles Edwards
Atlanta, GA – As Atlanta Falcons quarterback Michael Vick told a federal judge yesterday he's not guilty of the dog fighting charges against him, his team began practicing for the 2007 season.
Some fans wished Vick were at training camp, while others protested against the star player.
Usually, the only things separated by a stretch of state road 13 in Flowery Branch are the Falcons training facility and a middle school.
However, yesterday, the road known as Falcon Parkway, was a symbolic dividing line between Vick supporters and detractors like Phyllis Bedford.
The Georgia State financial aid worker does not buy the argument that the Vick did not know what was going on in Virginia.
BEDFORD: "I think he bankrolled the operation. I think he organized it. I think he planned it and I think his hands are bloody."
However, floor tiler Adam King is standing firm behind #7.
KING: "What does somebody need that's in trouble? Somebody to lift them up! Somebody to say, Hey! We're here buddy! I don't care what's going on. We're here. I'm still a fan. I'm still here for you."
A judge has set Vick's trial date for November 26th.
