Water Conservation Advocates Skeptical of Water War Options Proposed by State Leaders

Atlanta, GA – A week ago, Gov. Perdue's water task force outlined the state's options in the water war with Florida and Alabama. The panel said if metro Atlanta can no longer draw from Lake Lanier, under a Federal judge's order, conservation alone would not compensate for the 280 million gallons a day Atlanta would lose. Sally Bethea is executive director of the Upper Chattahoochee Riverkeeper. She told WABE's Denis O'Hayer the task force relied too much on capital projects--and too little on conservation.
